STAYING AT CAMP ALLEN?

Those planning to stay at Camp Allen for Mananitas need to make reservations by calling Camp Allen at 936-825-7175.  Double occupancy rates are $60.00 pp plus applicable tax.  This includes three meals:  Where else can you get a deal like that--and with such great food to boot?  Should you wish to have only the room with no meals, Camp Allen staff has graciously given Cursillistas a special rate of $35.00 double occupancy pp.  If you take advantage of this special rate, let them know of our appreciation.

GIVING BACK TO CURSILLO

You can help defray Cursillo costs and help provide scholarship money for participants by donating to the Cursillo fund. (See letter from Bishop Alard and Lay Director Marvin Garza posted on this site. Just click on the rooster at the bottom of this page.)  Let us give back to help others experience the change that we felt in our lives as we became a part of the Cursillo community.

NEWS TO PASS ALONG

Do you have a newsworthy note you would like to see on this web page?  Email us at Cursillo2000@hotmail.com to give the information you would like to be included for others to see. At the closing for Cursillo #187 a letter was distributed asking for contributions to help Cursillo defray rising costs. To view this letter from Marvin and the Bishop click the rooster.

 APPLICATION ACCEPTANCE PROCESS

The application process as established by the Cursillo Secretariat is followed when placing applicants to attend a particular Cursillo.  Some Cursillistas may not be aware of the procedure.

Applications are accepted on a first come, first serve basis, and the postmark of the application is used in case of a tie for the last available space.  No more than four people from an individual parish may attend a Cursillo with one exception:  If there are vacancies after the deadline, more applicants from a parish may be taken with no more than six from that parish accepted.  (Since September all Cursillos have been full, and there has been a waiting list for each one.)

A maximum of 42 participants may attend any one Cursillo, but the rector(a) has the right to request that only 36 attend.  (This has not occurred for more than a year.)  If a member of the clergy attends, the number may be increased to accomodate that person's schedule.

Once it has been determined that a person may attend a particular Cursillo, the individual is sent a letter of acceptance with a Cursillo brochure and a map with directions to Camp Allen.  The sponsor is sent a letter as well.

Should a person have to cancel--and it does happen-- another person is accepted from the waiting list to fill that place.  As stated above, the same procedure follows as long as time allows.  Last September a participant be- came extremely ill the day before Cursillo was to begin, and I found out just before ten that night that the doctor would not let her attend.  I called--and awakened --the next person on the waiting list to see if she could attend--then called her again the next morning to be cer- tain she remembered that she said she would attend.  It all worked out--literally at the last minute--of course, in God's time.

SERVICE PALANCA

Would you like to express the love of Christ by serving the team and participants at meals?  If so call or email to set up a time.  We are limited as to the number of people who can serve at any one meal so that we will not overpower the community of that weekend.  We are to be unobtrusive in our service!  Try not to set up conversations with you friends so as not to interrupt their weekend.  No service is at breakfast--only the noon and evening meals.

For the noon meal plan to arrive about 11:50; the normal meal time is 12:30 but is sometimes changed to noon.  Arrive for the evening meal is 5:50 with the scheduled time at 6:30.  Plan to stay after to pre- pare the tables for the next meal, with the exception of Sunday noon.

Call 936-931-3166 or email cursillo2000@hotmail.com.
